Part A of title IV ( 20 U.S.C. 1070 et seq. ), as amended by section 703 of the FAFSA Simplification Act, is amended— in section 401— in subsection (c)— in paragraph (2)— by striking subparagraph (A); and by redesignating subparagraphs
(B)and
(C)as subparagraphs
(A)and (B), respectively; in paragraph (3), by striking (2)(B)(i) and inserting (2)(A)(i) ; by redesignating paragraph
(5)as paragraph (7); and by inserting after paragraph
(4)the following: No eligible student described in paragraph
(2)may receive a grant under both this subsection and subsection
(b)concurrently. The Secretary shall award grants under this subsection in the same manner and with the same terms and conditions, including the length of the period of eligibility, as the Secretary awards Federal Pell Grants under subsection (b), except that— the award rules and determination of need applicable to the calculation of Federal Pell Grants under subsection (b)(1) shall not apply to grants made under this subsection; and the maximum period determined under subsection (d)(5) shall be determined by including all grants made under this section received by the eligible student and all grants so received under subpart 10 before the effective date of this subsection. ; and by striking subpart 10 of part A ( 20 U.S.C. 1070h ). The Secretary shall take such steps as are necessary to transition from the Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants program under subpart 10 of part A of title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1070h ), as in effect on the day before the effective date of this section, and the provision of Federal Pell Grants under section 401(c) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1070a(c) ), as amended by the FAFSA Simplification Act and this section.
