The Secretary of State, in coordination with the Secretary of Defense, shall appropriately prioritize and expedite the processing of requests from Taiwan under the Foreign Military Sales program consistent with the Arms Export Control Act and in furtherance of the Taiwan Relations Act. The Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Secretary of State, shall seek to utilize the Special Defense Acquisition Fund established under chapter 5 of the Arms Export Control Act ( 22 U.S.C. 2795 et seq. ) to expedite the procurement and delivery of defense articles and defense services for the purpose of assisting and supporting the Armed Forces of Taiwan.
Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, and annually thereafter for the following 10 years, the Secretary of State, in coordination with the Secretary of Defense, shall submit a report to the appropriate committees of Congress that describes the steps that have been taken to carry out subsection (a).
