The Secretary of Defense may authorize a remarried former spouse who is a custodial parent of a dependent child to retain electronic access to the privileged medical records of such dependent child, notwithstanding that the former spouse is no longer a dependent under section 1072(2) of title 10, United States Code. In this section: The term dependent has the meaning given that term in section 1072 of title 10, United States Code. The term dependent child means a dependent child of a remarried former spouse and a member or former member of a uniformed service. The term remarried former spouse means a remarried former spouse of a member or former member of a uniformed service.
