Section 139(b) of the National and Community Service Act of 1990 ( 42 U.S.C. 12593(b) ) is amended by adding at the end the following: A State Commission on National and Community Service for the State in which a national service program is being carried out may authorize, for compelling circumstances, an individual in an approved national service position may continue a service for more than 4 terms. An individual performing service under this paragraph may continue to receive a living allowance and other benefits under section 12594 of this title but may not receive an additional national service educational award under section 12595 of this title. .
