Sec. 373. Management of fatigue among crew of naval surface ships and related improvements

The Secretary of the Navy shall implement each recommendation for executive action set forth in the report of the Government Accountability Office titled Navy Readiness: Additional Efforts Are Needed to Manage Fatigue, Reduce Crewing Shortfalls, and Implement Training (GAO-21-366). Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of the Navy shall submit to the congressional defense committees and the Comptroller General a report on the status of actions taken by the Secretary to monitor crew fatigue and ensure equitable fatigue management throughout the naval surface ship fleet in accordance with subparagraph (a).
Such report shall include the following: An assessment of the extent of crew fatigue throughout the naval surface ship fleet. A description of the metrics used to assess the extent of fatigue pursuant to paragraph (1). An identification of results-oriented goals for effective fatigue management. An identification of timeframes for achieving the goals identified pursuant to paragraph (3). Not later than 90 days after the date on which the Comptroller General receives the report under subsection (b), the Comptroller General shall brief the congressional defense committees on the extent to which the actions and goals described in the report meet the requirements of subsection (a).
