Section 1001(a) of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 ( 42 U.S.C. 16391 ) is amended by adding at the end the following: To carry out the program authorized in this section, the Under Secretary for Science may appoint personnel using the authorities in section 10726 of the Research and Development, Competition, and Innovation Act. There are authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary to carry out the activities authorized in this section $20,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2023 through 2027. .
