Section 3 of the Forest and Rangeland Renewable Resources Research Act of 1978 ( 16 U.S.C. 1642 ) is amended— in subsection (a), by adding at the end the following: Renewable resource assessment research shall also include, as appropriate, research activities related to the sequestration of carbon, including the increased carbon storage through afforestation (as defined in section 2 of the Trillion Trees Act), reforestation (as defined in such section), forest and rangeland management, and the utilization of wood and other materials derived from forest and rangeland renewable resources to store carbon in building materials, industrial and consumer products. ; and in subsection (d)(2), by adding at the end the following:
