(1)of section 1225(b) of the Carl Levin and Howard P. Buck McKeon National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 ( Public Law 113–291 ; 127 Stat. 3550) is amended— in the paragraph heading by inserting after and taking into account the August 2017 strategy of the United States ; and 2014 in subparagraph (B)— by striking the period at the end and inserting a semicolon; by striking in the assessment of any such and inserting “in the assessment of— any such ; and by adding at the end the following new clauses: the United States counterterrorism mission; and efforts by the Department of Defense to support reconciliation efforts and develop conditions for the expansion of the reach of the Government of Afghanistan throughout Afghanistan. .
