In this subtitle: The term local educational agency has the meaning given the term in section 8101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 7801 ). The term local law enforcement officer has the meaning given the term in section 2, and includes a school resource officer. The term school means an elementary school or secondary school (as those terms are defined in section 8101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 7801 )). The term school resource officer means a sworn law enforcement officer who is— assigned by the employing law enforcement agency to a local educational agency or school; contracting with a local educational agency or school; or employed by a local educational agency or school.
