No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex (including sex orientation, gender identity, and pregnancy, including termination of pregnancy), race, color, national origin, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability status, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any health program or activity, including any health research program or activity, receiving Federal financial assistance, including credits, subsidies, or contracts of insurance or any health program or activity that is administered by an executive agency.
In this section, the term familial status means, with respect to one or more individuals— being domiciled with any individual related by blood or affinity whose close association with the individual is the equivalent of a family relationship; being in the process of securing legal custody of any individual; or being pregnant.
