Section 528 of National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 ( 10 U.S.C. 1121 note; 133 Stat.1357) is amended— in the section heading, by inserting after and benefits ; decorations in subsection (a)— by inserting and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs after military departments ; and by inserting and benefits after decorations ; by redesignating subsection
(b)as subsection (c); and by inserting after subsection
(a)the following new subsection: The Secretary of Defense shall prepare the guidelines in consultation with the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, with respect to veterans benefits under title 38, United States Code, whose eligibility determinations depend on the use of service records maintained by the Department of Defense. .
