Section 5 of the Act of August 18, 1941 (commonly known as the Flood Control Act of 1941 ) (55 Stat. 650, chapter 377; 33 U.S.C. 701n ), is amended by adding at the end the following: The Secretary shall provide assistance for the operation and maintenance of any project constructed under this section that, as determined by the Secretary, becomes permanent due to the extended presence of assistance from the Secretary under subsection (a). Notwithstanding any other provision of this section or any other law, the Secretary may provide assistance under this subsection for any period of time, as determined by the Secretary.
The cost of operation and maintenance provided under this subsection for a project shall be subject to the cost-sharing provisions that would otherwise apply to such a project. The authority to provide assistance under this subsection terminates on the date that is 10 years after the date of enactment of the America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 . .
