There is established within the Advanced Research Projects Agency—Energy established by section 5012(b) of the America COMPETES Act ( 42 U.S.C. 16538(b) ) a program for the research of energy storage systems, components, and materials. There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $50,000,000 for the period of fiscal years 2018 through 2022.
