Section 1 of the State Department Basic Authorities Act ( 22 U.S.C. 2651a ) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: There shall be established within the Department of State a Coordinator for Sanctions Policy, who shall be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, and shall report directly to the Secretary of State. The Coordinator for Sanctions Policy shall be responsible for the following: Overseeing the diplomatic aspects of the enforcement of United States and United Nations sanctions, including sanctions with respect to Russia, Iran, North Korea, and other countries.
Coordinating with allies regarding the enforcement of such sanctions. Coordinating determinations with respect to such sanctions by the heads of other Federal departments and agencies, including the Secretary of the Treasury and the United States intelligence community. The Coordinator for Sanctions Policy shall have the rank and status of Ambassador at Large. . It is the sense of Congress that the Coordinator for Sanctions Policy established pursuant to subsection
(a)should be provided sufficient office space and support staff to ensure its successful establishment.
