Sec. 256. Temporary increase in Social Services Block Grant allotments for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands

For the purpose of increasing the allotments for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for fiscal year 2018 under section 2003 of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1397b ) in accordance with subsection (b), there is appropriated $138,600,000 for fiscal year 2018. From the amount appropriated under subsection (a), the Secretary of Health and Human Services shall increase the amount of the allotments for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for fiscal year 2018 under section 2003 of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1397b )— in the case of Puerto Rico, by $126,000,000; and in the case of the Virgin Islands, by $12,600,000.
The increase to the allotments for fiscal year 2018 for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands under paragraph (1)— shall be made after the determination of the allotments for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for fiscal year 2018 under section 2003 of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1397b ); and shall not affect the amount of the allotment determined for fiscal year 2018 for any other State under such section. Notwithstanding section 2002(c) of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1397a(c) ), the increase in the allotments for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for fiscal year 2018 shall remain available until expended, without fiscal year limitation.
Paragraphs
(1)and
(4)of section 2005(a) of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1397d(a) ) shall not apply to the increase in the allotments for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for fiscal year 2018 under subsection (b).
