The minimum percentage of electrified rail lines in the United States shall be— in 2027, 80 percent; and in 2035, and every year following, 100 percent. The minimum percentage of electrified train engines in the United States shall be— in 2027, 80 percent; and in 2035, and every year following, 100 percent. Beginning in 2035 and every year after no train engines running on fossil fuels may operate within the United States.
