Sec. 7. Grants to carry out assessments required for development of community economic development plans

The Secretary of the Treasury may award a grant to an eligible entity involved in the development of a community economic development plan described in section 6 to carry out such assessments and other activities as may be required for the plan to meet the requirements of section 6(3). For purposes of this section, an eligible entity is a local or Indian tribal government or an agency or instrumentality of such a government. The Secretary may not award a grant under this section in excess of $1,000,000.
An eligible entity receiving a grant under this section shall provide non-Federal matching funds equal to not less than 20 percent of the amount of the grant. Matching funds may include in-kind support.
