Subtitle C of title IV of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 ( 6 U.S.C. 231 et seq.), as amended by section 405 of this Act, is further amended by adding at the end the following new section: Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this section and annually thereafter, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Homeland Security of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the Senate an assessment of the number and type of maritime assets and the number of personnel required to increase the Department’s maritime response rate pursuant to section 1092 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 ( 6 U.S.C. 223 ;
Public Law 114–328 ). . The table of contents in section 1(b) of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, as amended by section 405 of this Act, is further amended by inserting after the item relating to section 434 the following new item: Sec. 435. Maritime security capabilities assessments. .
