Subsection
(b)of the Competitive, Special, and Facilities Research Grant Act ( 7 U.S.C. 3157(b) ) is amended— in paragraph (2)— in subparagraph (D)— by redesignating clauses
(iii)through
(vii)as clauses
(iv)through (viii), respectively; and by inserting after clause
(ii)the following new clause: soil health; ; in subparagraph (E)— in clause (iii), by striking and at the end; in clause (iv), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following new clause: tools that accelerate the use of automation or mechanization for labor-intensive tasks in the production and distribution of crops. ; and in subparagraph (F)— in clause (vi), by striking and at the end; in clause (vii), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following new clause: barriers and bridges to entry and farm viability for young, beginning, socially disadvantaged, veteran, and immigrant farmers and ranchers, including farm succession, transition, transfer, entry, and profitability issues. ; in paragraph (5)— in subparagraph (A)(ii), by striking and at the end; and in subparagraph (B), by striking the period at the end and inserting the following: that— is of national scope; or is commodity-specific, so long as any such funds allocated for commodity-specific research are matched with funds from a non-Federal source at least equal to the amount of such funds so allocated. ; in paragraph (9)— in subparagraph (A), by striking clause (iii); and in subparagraph (B)— in clause (i), by striking clauses
