Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Inspector General of the Department shall— review— the Transportation Security Administration's deployment strategy for explosive detection canine teams, including consideration of whether the Administration's analysis of risk to transportation facilities and transportation systems is appropriate; the canine training, handler training, ongoing training, and updates to such training; and the use of the assets during high threat periods, including the reallocation of National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program resources during high threat periods; and submit to Congress a report on the review, including any recommendations on the appropriate number of canine assets needed to enhance security at high-risk facilities, such as high volume passenger transportation systems and facilities.
