Sec. 1064. Report on service-provided support to United States special operations forces

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a written report on common service support contributed from each of the military services toward special operations forces. Such report shall include— detailed information about the resources allocated by each military service for combat support, combat service support, and base operating support for special operations forces; and an assessment of the specific effects that future manpower and force structure changes are likely to have on the capability of each of the military services to provide common service support to special operations forces.
For each of fiscal years 2018 through 2020, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees an update to the report required under subsection (a). The report required under subsection
(a)and each update provided under subsection
(b)shall be submitted in unclassified form, but may contain a classified annex.
