It shall be a violation of this title to for any person to— make a false statement of a material fact knowing it to be false, or knowingly fail to disclose a material fact, for the purpose of obtaining or increasing for that person or for any other person any payment authorized to be furnished under this title; or make a false statement of a material fact knowing it to be false, or knowingly fail to disclose a material fact, when providing information to the Secretary during an investigation of a petition under section 101. Any person who commits a violation under subsection
(a)shall be imprisoned for not more than 1 year, fined under title 18, United States Code, or both.
