Sec. 802. Conditions on Forest Service road decommissioning

Whenever any Forest Service defined maintenance level one- or two-system road within a designated high fire prone area of a unit of the National Forest System is considered for decommissioning, the Forest Supervisor of that unit of the National Forest System shall— consult with the government of the county containing the road regarding the merits and possible consequences of decommissioning the road; and solicit possible alternatives to decommissioning the road. A Forest Service road described in subsection
(a)may not be decommissioned without the advance approval of the Regional Forester.
