Section 501(h) of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 290aa(h) ) is amended by inserting at the end the following: In the case of any such peer-review group that is reviewing a proposal or grant related to mental illness, no fewer than half of the members of the group shall have a medical degree, a doctoral degree in psychology, or advanced degree in nursing or social work from an accredited graduate school, and shall specialize in the mental health field. . Section 504 of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 290aa–3 ) is amended by adding at the end of subsection
(b)the following: At least half of the members of any peer-review group established under subsection
(a)shall have a medical degree, a doctoral degree in psychology, or advanced degree in nursing or social work from an accredited graduate school, and shall specialize in the mental health field. .
