Section 8(a) of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 ( 52 U.S.C. 10305(a) ) is amended— in paragraph (1), by striking or after the semicolon; in paragraph (2), by adding or after the semicolon; and by inserting after paragraph
(2)the following: the Attorney General has received a written complaint from an Indian Tribe that efforts to deny or abridge the right to vote under the color of law on account of race or color, or in contravention of the guarantees set forth in section 4(f)(2), are likely to occur; .
