Title I of the State Department Basic Authorities Act of 1956 ( 22 U.S.C. 2651a et seq. ), is amended by adding at the end the following: The Secretary of State is authorized to support, through grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, outreach, and public diplomacy activities, activities promoting the benefits of agricultural biotechnology, biofuels, science-based regulatory systems, and the application of such technologies for trade and development. The total amount of grants provided pursuant to subsection
(a)shall not exceed $500,000 in any fiscal year. .
