In this Act— the term Department means the Department of Housing and Urban Development; the term housing receiving Federal assistance — means housing that— except as provided in subparagraph (B), is covered by an application for mortgage insurance from the Department; receives housing assistance payments under a program administered by the Department; or otherwise receives more than $5,000 in project-based assistance under a Federal housing program administered by a Federal agency other than the Department; and does not include— single-family housing covered by an application for mortgage insurance from the Federal Housing Administration; or multi-family housing that— is covered by an application for mortgage insurance from the Federal Housing Administration; and does not receive any other Federal housing assistance; the term public housing agency means an agency described in section 3(b)(6) of the United States Housing Act of 1937 ( 42 U.S.C. 1437a(b)(6) ); and the term Secretary means the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
