Sec. 32608. Report on design and implementation of wireless roadside inspection systems

Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives a report regarding the design, development, testing, and implementation of wireless roadside inspection systems. The report required under subsection
(a)shall include a determination as to whether wireless roadside inspection systems— conflict with existing non-Federal electronic screening systems, or create capabilities already available; require additional statutory authority to incorporate generated inspection data into the safety measurement system or the safety fitness determinations program; and provide appropriate restrictions to specifically address privacy concerns of affected motor carriers and operators.
