The Secretary, acting through the Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration, shall conduct an evaluation of geographic areas and populations underserved by hospice and hospital-based palliative care to identify potential barriers to access. Not later than December 31, 2017, the Secretary shall report to Congress, on the evaluation conducted under subsection
(a)together with recommendations for such legislation and administrative action as the Secretary determines appropriate to address barriers to access to hospice and hospital-based palliative care. The Secretary, acting through the Director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, shall evaluate the awareness and use of hospice respite care by informal caregivers of beneficiaries under Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP. Not later than December 31, 2015, the Secretary shall report to Congress, on the evaluation conducted under subsection
(a)together with recommendations for such legislation and administrative action as the Secretary determines appropriate to increase awareness or use of hospice respite care under Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP.
