Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 ( 50 U.S.C. 1881a ) is amended— in subsection (d)(1)— in subparagraph (A), by striking and at the end; in subparagraph (B), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following new subparagraph: limit the acquisition of the contents of any communication to communications to which any party is a target of the acquisition or communications that refer to the target of the acquisition, if such communications are acquired to protect against international terrorism. ; and in subsection (i)(2)(B)— in clause (i), by striking and at the end; in clause (ii), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following new clause: limit the acquisition of the contents of any communication to communications to which any party is a target of the acquisition or communications that refer to the target of the acquisition, if such communications are acquired to protect against international terrorism. .
