Sec. 731. Guidelines for disease screening for minority patients

The Secretary, acting through the Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, shall convene a series of meetings to develop guidelines for disease screening for minority patient populations which have a higher than average risk for many chronic diseases and cancers. In convening meetings under subsection (a), the Secretary shall ensure that meeting participants include representatives of— professional societies and associations; minority health organizations; health care researchers and providers, including those with expertise in minority health;
Federal health agencies, including the Office of Minority Health, the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, and the National Institutes of Health; and other experts determined appropriate by the Secretary. Screening guidelines for minority populations shall be developed as appropriate under subsection
(a)for— hypertension; hypercholesterolemia; diabetes; cardiovascular disease; cancers, including breast, prostate, colon, cervical, and lung cancer; asthma; diabetes; kidney diseases; eye diseases and disorders, including glaucoma; HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases; uterine fibroids; autoimmune disease; mental health conditions; dental health conditions and oral diseases, including oral cancer; environmental and related health illnesses and conditions; Sickle cell disease; violence and injury prevention and control; genetic and related conditions; heart disease and stroke; tuberculosis; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; musculoskeletal diseases, arthritis, and obesity; and other diseases determined appropriate by the Secretary. Not later than 24 months after the date of enactment of this title, the Secretary shall publish and disseminate to health care provider organizations the guidelines developed under subsection (a). There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section, such sums as may be necessary for each of fiscal years 2015 through 2019.
